Amazon's AI Model Access Cut Off Amid Security Concerns
Amazon's security concerns over AI model security have led to Anthropic cutting off access to two of its models, the Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy expressed concerns to government officials about the potential for these models to be used in cyberattacks. The government subsequently imposed an export control ban on the models, resulting in Anthropic cutting off access to them worldwide.
An Amazon spokesperson has stated that while the company does not share details of discussions with government officials, it is not uncommon for governments to seek the company's counsel on potential security risks. The spokesperson also pointed out that AWS has been affected by the model cut off.
Other reports from The Information and Reuters have also confirmed that Amazon had communicated concerns about the security of Anthropic's models. David Sacks, a former AI czar under Trump, has added that a trusted partner of both Anthropic and the US government had come forward with a 'jailbreak' for the models, which the government asked Anthropic to fix or de-deploy.
Anthropic has responded to the situation by stating that the capabilities causing government concern are already available in other publicly accessible models.
This development highlights the growing concerns over AI model security and the need for more robust measures to prevent their misuse.
