Gemini Spark Expands to Mac
Google's AI agent Gemini Spark is now available on Mac, bringing its digital life management capabilities to the desktop.
The launch of Gemini Spark on Mac allows it to better compete with other desktop AI agents like Claude Desktop, Microsoft's Copilot, and OpenClaw. With this update, Spark can work with files on the computer and will soon be able to handle remote tasks, such as pulling information from a file on the Mac.
Key Features and Updates
- Sort and organize files on the computer
- Use files as the source for new Google Workspace documents or spreadsheets
- Integrate with Google Tasks and Keep for note-taking and task management
- Connect to third-party apps like Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals
- Track topics and react to events in real-time, including sports scores, stock movements, and breaking news
Gemini Spark's ability to track topics and react to events in real-time will improve its performance for tasks that involve monitoring and responding to changing information.
Customization and Expansion
Google is also rolling out support for custom Model Context Protocol (MCP), which will allow users to connect their favorite apps directly into Spark and build a more tailored assistant experience. This update will enable Spark to perform a wider range of tasks, such as reserving tables, ordering groceries, designing flyers, and booking apartment tours.
Availability and Limitations
Gemini Spark for macOS (beta) is currently available only to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. While the launch is limited, it marks an important step in the development of Gemini Spark and its potential to become a leading desktop AI agent.
