Google's Cloud Business Soars
Google's latest earnings report has brought a sigh of relief to Alphabet investors, as the company's cloud business continues to soar. With revenue spiking 82% from the same period last year, Google Cloud has climbed to $24.8 billion, well above Wall Street analysts' expectations.
Enterprise AI Adoption Drives Growth
The growth in Google Cloud revenue can be attributed to the increasing adoption of enterprise AI solutions and infrastructure. This is reflected in the company's backlog of cloud contracting work, which has climbed to $514 billion. Alphabet's overall revenue grew 24% year-over-year during the past quarter to $119.8 billion, with Google Services revenue jumping 15% to $94.5 billion.
"Our AI investments are redefining what's possible across every part of our business," said Google CEO Sundar Pichai during the earnings call. "We have exciting momentum across the board."
Gemini's Rising Popularity
The company's AI chatbot, Gemini, is also gaining traction, with 950 million monthly active users. This represents a significant increase from Q4 2025, when the app had 750 million users.
- The growth in Google Cloud revenue is a testament to the company's successful investment in AI.
- Alphabet's spending on AI is still substantial, with capital expenditures estimated to be between $180 billion and $190 billion for the year.
- Google's compute capacity investments are expected to pay off in 2027, with the company seeing strong demand indicators, including long-term deals.
