Google Takes a Cue from Apple with Simplified Quick Share Feature
The tech giant continues to bridge the gap between its Pixel lineup and the iPhone with a revamped Quick Share feature, now available on Android devices.
Google has been working to make fast sharing between its devices easier, and with the improved Quick Share feature rolling out now, Android users can send contact information, photos, videos, and more with just a tap.
To use the new version of Quick Share, you'll need to bring your Android device close to another compatible Android device, allowing for an instant, two-way exchange. This process is made even more seamless with the ability to share photos or videos from the phone's Share Sheet, then tap devices together to make the exchange.
This addition brings the Pixel lineup more in line with the iPhone, following the launch of Apple's NFC-powered NameDrop feature in iOS 17. NameDrop allowed iPhone users to share contacts, photos, or videos by simply touching phones.
The Quick Share update is currently available on Pixel 6 and newer devices, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 set to receive the feature soon. Google plans to support more devices by the end of the year.
By making device-to-device sharing easier and more intuitive, Google is taking a significant step towards further integrating its devices and creating a more seamless user experience.
