Instagram Users to Get More Control Over Their Feed
Instagram is taking steps to give users more control over their feed, with new features that allow them to customize their algorithm.
According to a recent post from Instagram head Adam Mosseri, the platform is working on new ways to access the Your Algorithm feature, which was launched last year. This feature allows users to specify which topics they want to see more of, and less of, in their feed.
How the New Features Will Work
The new features include a new way to access the Your Algorithm menu by pulling down in the Instagram feed. Another feature allows users to customize Reels by swiping up from a Reel, which will bring up a customization prompt. Additionally, buttons will be added beneath each Reel to indicate whether or not the user wants to see more Reels like it.
"We want to evolve Your Algorithm from a setting to something that feels central to your experience on Instagram," Mosseri said. He also noted that some of the features are currently being tested, while others will be rolled out soon.

The new features are designed to give users more control over their feed and allow them to see more content that is relevant to them.

Users have been requesting more control over their algorithm, with many commenting on Mosseri's post to ask for the ability to see more posts from the people they follow.
What Users Want
Many users have been asking for the ability to see more posts from the people they follow, rather than content that is chosen by the algorithm.
As one user put it, "WE JUST WANT OUR ALGORITHM TO SHOW THE PPL WE FOLLOW."
It remains to be seen how the new features will be received by users, but it is clear that Instagram is taking steps to give users more control over their feed and provide a more personalized experience.
