Meta Enters the Gaming Scene with Pocket
Meta has officially entered the gaming scene with the launch of Pocket, a new app that enables users to create and share interactive experiences using AI prompts.
The app, which is a result of Meta's acquisition of the team behind the vibe-coded gaming platform Gizmo, offers a scrollable feed where users can play with gizmos created by others. According to reports, the app was first launched on June 29, 2026, on the App Store and Google Play, although Meta has not yet officially announced its debut.
Key Features of Pocket
- The app allows users to generate small, interactive apps and games using AI prompts
- It offers a discovery feed where users can play with gizmos created by others
- The app is similar to Gizmo, which has generated 635K lifetime installs across both iOS and Google Play
"A new creative platform to make and share gizmos" is how the app describes itself, according to a Play Store screenshot published by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi.
Meta's Push into AI Creation Tools
Meta has been pushing to make AI creation tools more mainstream, with earlier efforts including AI-generated images created via its Meta AI app, and AI videos created with its app called Vibes.
- The company has also added AI features across its social platforms and into its video-editing app for creators, Edits
- Pocket is another example of Meta's efforts to extend its reach into the gaming and creative industries
Initial Reaction and Future Plans
Although Meta has not officially announced Pocket's debut, the app has already generated interest among tech enthusiasts and gamers. With its initial experimentation phase likely still ongoing, it remains to be seen how Pocket will evolve and compete in the gaming market.
