Spotify Makes it Easier to Share Podcast Moments

The music streaming giant has introduced a new feature that allows users to clip and share specific moments from their favorite podcasts, making it easier to discover and share key pieces of news and information.

Spotify's new Podcast clips feature is rolling out globally to free and Premium users on mobile, allowing users to clip a particular segment of interest from a podcast they're listening to and share it more broadly with their audience on social media, friends, colleagues, or anyone else.

When clipping, users will be able to trim the portion of the audio and preview it to hear it back before sharing more publicly. The sharing button will offer options for different ways to share a podcast, including a link to the full episode, chapter, timestamp, or the clip.

This feature is particularly timely for the tech industry, where major tech and AI executives often avoid traditional media interviews to instead sit down with podcasters to expand their reach and avoid tougher questions.

Spotify has also seen traction with people saving longer segments of podcasts called Chapters, which have been saved and added to playlists over 2 million times per month.

The feature will make it easier for key pieces from lengthy interviews to find an audience, and can also aid in marketing by highlighting particularly interesting bits and encouraging users to tune in to the full show to hear more.

Saved clips are stored in the user's Spotify Library, allowing them to revisit them at any time or add them to one of their podcast playlists.

The feature is a great addition to Spotify's podcasting capabilities, and will likely be popular among users who want to share specific moments from their favorite podcasts.

"We're excited to introduce Podcast clips to our users," said a Spotify spokesperson. "This feature will make it easier for people to share and discover the moments that matter most to them."
