India's Unified Payments Interface Set to Get a Business Model

The Indian government is set to introduce a business model for its popular Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system, which could see merchants paying charges on some transactions. This move comes as UPI has become ubiquitous in India, processing a record 23.66 billion transactions worth ₹29.88 trillion in July alone.
